Jeet Kune Do Chinese Kickboxing

  • Chinese Boxing Focus Mitt Training

The Jeet Kune Do - Chinese Kickboxing program is based on cultivating natural power and speed, and its application to fighting as a whole. The program is based on defensive boxing using the applied principles of Bruce Lee's Modified Wing Chun (Jun Fan Gung Fu) and Jeet Kune Do; with techniques and strategies from other arts used in Bruce Lee's research of combative principles.

Through a simple formulaic process which consists of easy to learn techniques and partner drills, you will build a solid foundation to work with (that can be used in a self-defense situation immediately).

What results from the training is a diverse physical exploration in martial arts that is safe to learn, and covers a wide range of tools: striking, kicking, standing grappling (clinch), counter-grappling strategies and also the use of weapons (edged and blunt impact weaponry).

From this you will evolve your own expression of the techniques taught with the idea that there are no 'systems' - only people moving in a relationship to one another. While the techniques can be modified for the ring, the focus of this curriculum is still on self-preservation. How far you take your skills is up to you. Consistent training will not only give you valuable skills in the event of a physical confrontation, but also help you develop better coordination, awareness, balance, posture, increased fitness as well as a more focused mind.

There are many things to practice and master, but the journey of martial arts is unlike any other activity.  There is a depth that is difficult to express in words. Your training will become your constant companion...

The focus of the training is based on the self-defense and the combative kickboxing aspects with a focus on the 3 ranges of combat (long range, medium range and close range) of Bruce Lee's art; while maintaining the freedom and continued growth in the martial arts as advocated by Sijo Lee.

This is not a Kickboxing or MMA class... if you're looking for that, you might want to look elsewhere.

All of the drills and principles you will learn will teach you to "absorb what is useful"... with the idea that there are no 'systems' - only people moving in a relationship to one another.

Progressive Resistance Training - In the Jeet Kuen classes we focus on self-defense. Every training session includes sparring games to ingrain and reinforce the techniques taught in prior classes, starting with simple isolation sparring drills. "The purpose of the class is to preserve and promote Bruce Lee’s art of Jeet Kune Do, to help define and teach the core curriculum, not to confine us but to liberate us, and to discover our personal expression of Bruce’s art."
